1970 registered, with 222,56 miles currently reading on the Speedometer. Metallic Grey with Burgundy Vinyl Seats, Carpets and Dash Upholstered Sections. Hard Top Painted in Body Colour. White Walled Tyres partnered with Chrome Wheel Trims, Frigiking Air Conditioning Fitted (Full Working Order and Comes out nice and cold) Opening Glove Box with Working Light, Wooden Upper Section of Dash, Becker Europa Radio Stereo Head Unit, 4 Speed Automatic Gearbox.

This SL was originally built on 11.06.1969 and supplied to Mercedes Benz USA wher eit was registered on 25.03.1970. At some point in its life it was exported from the U.S to the United Arab Emirates and it was imported into the UK very recently. While is was in the Emirates some restoration work was carried out, which cosmetically looks very good. There are a few small chips around the bonnet edge but the paintwork overall looks lovely as does the condition of the chrome, with a little patina.

We cannot guarantee the mileage due to the age of the vehicle and the fact that it has spent all of its life outside the UK

The interior looks to be in very nice cosmetic condition, with seats and carpets presenting very well indeed, and the air conditioning works remarkably well. The engine sounds and feels very sweet and the gearbox changes up and down the gears nicely.

The underside has received some attention, and welding, and has been coated with underseal from front to back, so as we would usually advise with all true classic cars, (54 years since it was first built) expect it to need to have work carried out from the outset, and ongoing regular maintenance there after.  we would consider this car a restoration project and offer it for sale on this basis.

The 280SL is a very sought after and rare Classic Car, and was the epitome of luxury and decadence in the late 60's and 70's when it was the car to own for the Rich and Famous. Famous owners included;

John Lennon, Colin Powell (US Secretary of State), Tina Turner, Charlton Heston, Audrey Hepburn, John Travolta, Sir Stirling Moss, John Glenn (U.S Astronaught), Juan Fangio, David Coultard, Peter Ustinov, Prescilla Presley, Jennifer Aniston, Sophie Loren, Kate Moss, Tom Conti, just to mention a few.

This list of owners really does highlight the desirability of this very high profile car, and to drive one today evokes a real sense of occasion, as there really is nothing like them in the world.
